Joukon Voima and TRINE -collaboration: Eradicating energy poverty together

Julkaistu: 20.3.2017

We’re happy to announce that, to do our bit in eradicating energy poverty,  Joukon Voima is now collaborating with Swedish crowdfunding platform TRINE. 1.2 billion people around the world currently lack access to electricity and TRINE seeks to solve this problem by closing the gap between private capital in developed countries and local solar partners in emerging markets. As of March 2017, the Joukon Voima-website will be exhibiting TRINE’s projects alongside our own, so that contributing is even easier than before for Finnish crowdfunders.

For Joukon Voima this collaboration is exciting because of several reasons. When founding Joukon Voima, one of our long-term goals was to fund renewable energy systems in emerging markets. The collaboration with TRINE brings us an exciting way to get closer to this goal and participate in the global energy transition. TRINE is also a WWF-Climate Solver company.

Joukon Voima is not only about environmental impact. TRINE’s projects have already helped over 40,000 people get access to energy. Solar energy is a key component in solving a wide range of problems and has a very real impact on the health and livelihood of families. In addition to empowering people in the rural villages that are powered up, TRINE boosts developing economies by working with local partners.

TRINE’s crowdfunded projects are loan-based, which means that funders are not simply giving money away. Through funding solar energy projects they are also making smart investments that will be repaid with interest. The loans provided by TRINE help establish business that is economically sustainable and ensure investing in renewable energy is attractive to as many people as possible. This means projects have a bigger scale and real impact.

We are excited and proud to be working with a company like TRINE, and believe that by bringing them together with Finnish crowdfunders we are one step closer to solving some of the wicked problem facing our planet.
